Makeup Brush Care

“Your makeup is only as good as the tools you use to apply it. Therefore your tools must always be in their working condition.” – Bobbi Brown – Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual

Regardless which makeup brushes you invest in, make sure you take the time to take care of them. I have both full sized and mini brushes – I keep them from collections as they are perfect to take on the go or when I travel.

The weekend is a great time to clean your brushes so they have the time to dry completely. While there are expensive makeup brush cleaning products on the market, I use a good old fashion gentle baby shampoo. Since I have scent-sensitives to some fragrant products, I find the Aveeno Baby Lightly Scented Wash and Shampoo is perfect for me. I wash my brushes one of two ways – one bowl with water and a bit of the baby shampoo and the other with water to rinse. For brushes that need a more in-depth cleaning like foundation, blush and bronzer brushes, I will drop some baby shampoo and water in the palm of my clean hand, swirl the brush to get them super clean and then rinse under the tap being careful to not get the handle wet. I find a dishrack is perfect for drying my brushes or lying across a rectangular shaped vase.

Take care of your brushes and they will take care of you.

Autumn Wedding Makeup

It is not too often I get to glam up so it was very lovely to have a wedding to go to this evening. Makeup is from my Bobbi Brown Cosmetics collection. For a base – light bisque corrector, light sand instant Full Cover corrector, sand stick foundation, bare nude illuminating powder, stonestreet bronzer to add a bit of warmth to my skin, nude pink blusher and pink glow for highlighting. On my eyes, ivory is swept across the lid, black plum long wear eye liner along the waterline and lash line and a combination of eggplant, star beam and mica eye shadows on my lid followed by smokey eye mascara. To finish lip balm and crushed lipstick in Cali Rose. Crystal earrings from Swarovski. Autumn wedding glamour. Thank you to @glowbytamara and @bbpro_hannahmartin for teaching me many amazing makeup tips. 💗

Simple Glowy Friday Makeup

Simple glowy Friday makeup thanks to inspiration from Lauren of Hunter and Heels (@huntersandheels) and her new video “Quick, Easy, Everyday Makeup for Mums“. While not a mum myself, I can definitely embrace a quick makeup routine that makes me look glowy and awake. I started with my R+F Soothe Steps 1, 2 and 3, REDEFINE Multi-Function Eye Cream and then finished with REVERSE Suncreen. I started my makeup by applying Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturizer (Extra Light). Since I was challenged with lots of insomnia this week, I applied corrector (Light Bisque) followed by the new Instant Full Cover Concealer (Cool Sand) and Nude Finish Illuminating Setting Powder (Bare). On my eyes is Ivory shadow swept across my lid, Cavier applied with a wet eyeliner brush across the top lash line followed by smokey eye mascara (black). Applied blusher (Pale Pink – a blue based pink) to the apple of my cheeks for a pop of pink and Highlighting Powder (Pink Glow). Crystal Lip Gloss applied once on the go. Happy Friday!

Pretty in Pink Glow

Thankful to the Bobbi Brown Makeup Artist that introduced me to the Bobbi Brown Brightening Brick in Pink at Harrods London Heathrow. It is definitely a palette well loved and used. Blusher and bronzer simplified into one. I love the warmth of bronzer with a hint of blush for a lovely pretty in pink glow.
